Get your Message Across: WebToGo introduces e-Mail, SMS and FAX in a single application for the Palm
Munich, 02.02.2005 – WebToGo releases a revolutionary new software that fully integrates all common non-instant messaging channels into a single application. This will benefit all Palm owners, who simply want to get their message across without worrying whether the recipient is accessible only via e-mail, a mobile phone or a fax machine. Any incoming message can be forwarded to any other channel, which provides for a convenient way to print communication straight from the Palm: Just send it to a fax. The user can sign a fax message and write on it with the stylus, just as he would on a piece of paper. MailToGo now also comes with full e-mail attachment support and real-time e-mail alerts and can be downloaded and purchased at EUR 34 from www.webtogoeurope.com
Integrated e-Mail, SMS and Fax
In addition to full support for e-mail and text messages from your PDA, MailToGo now allows fax sending. The same message can be sent to any number of recipients and across multiple channels. To send a fax, a text message is converted into an image, upon which the user is free to add writing, sketches or his signature. For easier handling, the fax image is rendered at a choice of resolution levels. High density displays and extended screens are fully supported and the application is fully integrated with the Palm address book.
New Email Alerts
Palm users who have felt left out while their colleagues automatically received new e-mail on their Blackberry can rejoice. MailToGo provides the same functionality including sound alerts even using a two-device solution (a PDA connected to mobile phone via Bluetooth). The application manages the power consumption to make this possible. In contrast to the Blackberry service, MailToGo does not require any special servers but works with any e-mail provider accessible via POP or IMAP.
Full Attachment Support
MailToGo will receive attachments and pass them to other applications on the handheld for rendering. For example, MailToGo will pass HTML links to the WebToGo browser, and image and Word files to any available reader. When there are multiple applications on the device, the user can choose the preferred application to open this type of file. Attachments can also be sent directly from the expansion card.
Ease of Use
MailToGo retains its industry-leading ease of configuration, which does not require any specialist knowledge about POP and SMTP servers. It also continues to be the only PalmOS e-mail application that will allow message sending even when the user’s e-mail provider is not accessible via a mobile connection. Unlike the SMS application pre-installed on some PalmOS devices, MailToGo does not require any special phone drivers and will work with most GSM mobile phones right out of the box.
System Requirements
MailToGo is available for PalmOS 3.5 upwards and supports Smartphones as well as combinations of PDAs and mobile phones. Mobile Phones can be integrated via Bluetooth, cable and/or infrared. MailToGo costs EUR 34 and can be downloaded from www.webtogoeurope.com. MailToGo is available in English, German, Spanish, Italian and French.
