WebToGo Provides Corporate Connection Manager to SNAM
WebToGo has provided a customized version of its OneClick Internet Connection Manager to SNAM. The solution addresses the connectivity needs of SNAM’s mobile workforce in compliance with the strict corporate security standards.
WebToGo has provided a customised corporate connection manager to SNAM, Europe’s leading operator in the construction and management of gas infrastructures.
The goal was to provide a unique solution, addressing the Company’s pervasive mobile connectivity needs in full compliance with the Company’s strict security regulations at all times, albeit offering ease-of-use to its mobile workforce.
WebToGo’s OneClick Internet Connection Manager has been customised to meet SNAM’s requirements and tested jointly by the two Companies before being officially deployed by SNAM in August.
The solution connects to multiple mobile networks, using SNAMs dedicated APN without the need for any manual configuration. Static and dynamic authentication protocols are supported and according to these the client establishes either a RAS or an NDIS connection. OneClick Internet is fully compatible with SNAM’s VPN client, which can be triggered whenever required.
SNAM’s connection manager includes an Admin-mode which allows easily configuring the client and prevents non-Admin users from modifying the configuration. The solution has been tested on the fleet of MBB embedded laptops in use.
With OneClick Internet SNAM has eliminated the inefficiencies of using multiple generic connection managers and deployed a unified and secure, fully customised solution.
About SNAM
SNAM is Europe’s leading operator in the construction and management of gas infrastructures and one of the major players in terms of invested capital for regulatory purposes (regulated asset base, or RAB). With over 6,000 people, Snam is active in transport, regasification, storage and distribution of natural gas through four operating companies: Snam Rete Gas (transmission and dispatching), Gnl Italia (regasification), Stogit (storage) and Italgas (distribution). Snam’s presence in the whole chain of gas regulated activities allows the company to leverage the value set out by the integration of the businesses, in order to ensure maximum flexibility and security of the Italian system through operational synergies and a unique expertise in the sector, gained in over 70 years of experience.
The company, which is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange since December 2001, is part of Italy’s FTSE MIB and of Europe’s STOXX 600 Utilities indexes. Snam’s activities are subject to the regulations set out by the Authority for Electricity and Gas: a clear, transparent and stable regulatory framework, which allows the Company to pursue a challenging strategy aimed at value creation by maintaining a low risk profile.
